It may not always feel like it, but, as Minimalism Made Simple explains, life is short. Though the days are long, the years dissipate in an instant. Years later, you don’t want to look back and regret some of the habits and mindsets that kept you from getting the most out of life. That’s why Mente Soul has given you this list of things to stop doing immediately to lift your personal life to the level you deserve. You will thank us later!

Neglecting Your Needs

Serving others is essential to living a fulfilled life. But when you have no time and energy left for yourself, it’s going to present problems. You must carve out time for self-care so that you can foster your health and be the best version of yourself possible. This starts at home, so be sure you create an environment that’s conducive to low stress and calmness. You can take a few simple steps to achieve this, such as decluttering, bringing in a few houseplants, and using aromatherapy. If you need a moment to rest and recharge, don’t hesitate to take it.

Working in Anxiety

Way too many people are impacted by job anxiety. If you hate your job, start putting the pieces in place to change your career. Give 100 percent of yourself to life. Take any anxiety or fear you may feel about embarking on a new career path and turn it into energy that will propel you through any challenges ahead.

As with many other things in life, a fulfilling career requires hard work and perseverance. The more challenging your journey, the more rewarding it will be in the long run!

Entertaining Negativity

No one likes a Negative Nancy. Each morning, McLean Hospital suggests resolving that you will fight negativity throughout the day. This applies to yourself and the people around you. You must believe in yourself if you hope to find success and fulfillment. But you should also stop doubting other people and being overly critical. After all, you don’t like that behavior from others, so why would others like it from you?

Chronically Complaining

Another way to reduce negativity in your life is to pay attention to how often you complain. Everyone has problems, and sometimes venting to others can help us overcome them. However, excessive complaining is a problem.

If all you give to the people around you is negativity, they will eventually avoid you or stop listening to your perspective. The next time you notice yourself complaining about the same old issues, start brainstorming solutions or talking about something happy!

Listening to Worthless Opinions

One thing that holds a lot of people back from reaching their potential is that they put too much stock in other people’s opinions. Learn to discern between good and bad opinions in relation to your life. Seek valuable advice and wisdom, but drown out the haters when they don’t have anything constructive to say!

Avoiding Exercise

Lastly, you need to move your body if you’re going to maintain your physical, mental, and emotional health. If you struggle with sticking to a fitness routine, it could be because you haven’t found one that you enjoy. The thing is there are endless types of activities and movements that can get your blood pumping and endorphins flowing.

Try playing a recreational sport, running, cycling, HIIT, or even taking the stairs when you go places. Adopt a mindset of moving whenever you can, and you will have more energy to own each day.

We all want to live the happiest, most fulfilled lives possible. But we often get in our own way! If you find yourself doing any of the things above, start learning how to stop them today. In no time, you will realize that you are on the path to a healthier, better version of yourself!

Leah McMillan

It’s a tale as old as time. Leah McMillan was taking on too much, saying “yes” to everything and everyone, running herself ragged, while also trying to be the best mom/partner/daughter/friend she could be. Eventually, she was running on fumes. Then, the pandemic hit. And while there were a few dicey weeks for her and her family at the beginning, she found being out of her normal “life-nado” helped her slow down and start to find her voice again. And with that voice, she started to say NO. She set boundaries, focused on spending quality time with her loved ones (even if it had to be virtual), and made her health and her family’s health her priority. Does she still have some hot mess days? Sure, but they’re definitely less frequent than they used to be. She hopes her website will inspire others to step back, take stock, and make positive life changes.”
